ANOTHER victory for Malaysia. Our boy Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah started in 27th position, sped and led part of the way. And he emerged fourth in the Moto2 GP in Sepang on Sunday. Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah started at 27th position at the Moto2 GP in Sepang and finished fourth.

I was ecstatic and and watched the race again on Astro Starsports on Monday. The whole race was exciting to say the least, and it was right after our boy, Muhammad Zulfahmi Khairuddin, emerged second in the Moto3 GP earlier.

Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah started at 27th position at the Moto2 GP in Sepang and finished fourth.

Everyone in the crowd was excited at the prospect of another Malaysian on the podium. I am sure the roar of the 70,000-crowd could be heard from miles around. We are not aware of the hours spent on practices and the numerous challenges encountered with the wheels, tyres and engines.

The blood, sweat and tears, so to speak. But it has paid off and both our boys have put Malaysia on the motorcycle racing map.

Congratulations to Zulfahmi and Syahrin. We can expect more action from both of them in future, no doubt about it. They have paved the way for our young talent to delve in motorcycle sports.

We are all behind you, boys.

Mountain Climbing as a Healthy Hobby [a sketch inspired from Gunung Tebu expedition] (by Saharudin)

Mountain climbing may not be a hobby of choice for most people, because it is a hobby that requires a strong manifestation of the physical and mental endurance. But for us it's not the excuse. Maybe we see things differently.


For us it is a challenge that must be resolved until the end. Facing the challenges, preparations should be made earlier. Physical strength needed to be built with intensive training for several weeks or months before the date of the climb came. Mental strength is tested by simulation climbing over nearby mountains on daytrip basis. It all require discipline.


We are not scientists or researchers who have studied the flora and fauna, which records all available scientific studies and journals specific findings to be presented to the public. Indeed, we appreciate the noble works, but we do not have to be like them in advance to gain the experience to enjoy the lush green natural beauty created by God the Almighty.


I also have heard, that we may not fully understand the word ‘hobby’, because it has been rewarding in different ways depending on the type of activity. The only thing anyone can do is to appreciate. Appreciate one’s hobby. It is one from the many declaration of pleasures in life. As long as it does not deviate from the definition of intoxicating joy that is self destroy, undermine the family institution that reflects the community in the country.


Not that we are uninterested in the business of politics, economy of our beloved country. We are indeed some part of them. However, in my apolitical opinion, it is easier for the leaders and people to unite due to the law together. However, it is made complicated by some leaders and people who may not be as mentally healthy I think. Some are seen as greedy and ungrateful for what they have acquired in life. Let it be, but do not let it become too excessive though.

Enough if I say that mountaineering is an outdoor activity that nourishes the body, strengthen the mind, binds greater understanding among others, gives utmost satisfaction over sharing the great photos and accumulates a thousand memories of a lifetime.

Dalam kita semua dikurniakan Allah SWT dengan kekuatan fizikal tubuh badan yang kuat dan kesihatan yang sihat wal-afiat, perlu kita sedar dan ingat bahawa terdapat insan-insan lain yang kurang bernasib baik yang memerlukan bantuan kita semua.


Melalui blog ini, saya ingin menyebarkan berita akan nasib malang yang menimpa saudara Mohd Abdul Hafiz Abu Tahir atau, di kalangan kami, biasa kami memanggil antara satu sama lain sebagai OP Hafiz. OP adalah singkatan kepada ‘Old Putera’ merujuk kepada 'Bekas Putera' yang pernah melanjutkan pengajian di Maktab Tentera Di Raja (MTD), Kuala Lumpur.

"Melalui blog ini, saya ingin menyeru kepada sesiapa sahaja yang mendapat tahu mengenai berita ini, agar dapat menghulurkan bantuan kepada SUMBER DEMIHAFIZ iaitu sumber kutipan dana yang telah dilancarkan oleh Bekas Putera MTD. Tabung ini tidak terbuka hanya kepada OP sahaja, sebaliknya terbuka kepada semua insan yang ikhlas ingin menghulurkan bantuan".

Kisah OP Hafiz telah mendapat liputan yang meluas di kalangan kami sebagai Bekas Putera MTD. Pelbagai aktiviti telah dianjurkan oleh mereka dikalangan kami yang berhati mulia, membantu meringankan beban OP Hafiz dengan menganjurkan pelbagai aktiviti untuk mendapatkan sumber dana demi membiayai kos perubatan OP Hafiz. Diantaranya ialah OPCB (Old Putera Charity Bowling), OP Ziarah 1 dan II, Misi Berbasikal ke Felda Semenchu, Solat Hajat 1 dan II.


Selain daripada aktiviti yang berterusan, beberapa blog juga telah di buat bagi memastikan kesinambungan dana yang diperlukan oleh OP Hafiz terus mendapat perhatian sementara aktiviti-aktiviti lain disusun seterusnya untuk kutipan dana OP Hafiz.


Melalui blog ini, saya ingin menyeru kepada sesiapa sahaja yang mendapat tahu mengenai berita ini, agar dapat menghulurkan bantuan kepada SUMBER DEMIHAFIZ iaitu sumber kutipan dana yang telah dilancarkan Bekas Putera MTD. Tabung ini tidak terbuka hanya kepada OP sahaja, sebaliknya terbuka kepada semua insan yang ikhlas ingin menghulurkan bantuan.

Semoga dengan sumbangan yang berterusan, kita semua akan dapat meringankan lagi dugaan berat yang sedang dihadapi oleh OP Hafiz dan keluarga beliau. Sesungguhnya, sumbangan yang ikhlas itu pasti ada ganjaran yang besar di sisi Allah SWT.

Berkenaan adalah sedikit maklumat berkenaan OP Hafiz;

OP MOHD ABDUL HAFIZ ABU TAHIR

OP Hafiz dilahirkan 23 tahun yang lalu pada 24 Ogos 1988 di Hospital Kota Tinggi, Johor di dalam keluarga Abu Tahir dan Tumirah yang mempunyai 7 adik beradik. Beliau ialah anak yang ke-5, selain 2 lelaki dan 3 perempuan. Seorang kakak telah meninggal dunia semasa berumur 5 tahun. OP Hafiz dibesarkan di persekitaran FELDA, dan bapa beliau merupakan peneroka Felda Semenchu, Kota Tinggi sejak 1977.

OP Hafiz mendapat pendidikan awal di SRK dan SMK Semenchu sebelum dipilih melanjutkan pelajaran ke Maktab Tentera Diraja, Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur pada tahun 2002. Beliau berada selama 4 tahun di MTD dan ditempatkan di kompeni F. Selepas Perbarisan Tamat Latihan di MTD pada akhir tahun 2005, beliau melanjutkan pelajaran tingginya di Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) pada tahun 2006 sehingga pertengahan 2011 untuk Sarjana Muda Kejuruteraan Kimia. Beliau berada pada tahun ke3 dan terakhir dan dianggap mahasiswa yang cergas dan cerdas. Beliau hanya ada satu kertas amali sahaja untuk diduduki.

PANAS TIDAK SAMPAI KE PETANG, HUJAN TURUN DI TENGAH HARI

TRAGEDI

Tragedi melanda pada petang Selasa, 24 Mei 2011. OP Hafiz dan beberapa kawan sedang bermandi-manda di Pantai Tanjung Balau, Bandar Penawar, Kota Tinggi. Beliau terjun beberapa kali dari suatu cenuram. Pada terjunan ke-3 atau ke-4, beliau tidak timbul. Mujur kawan-kawan dan orang yang di pantai sedar akan keadaan yang berlaku. Bergegas mereka tarik beliau dari dalam air laut. Beliau kaku dan kesejukan, kedua belah tangannya bengkok, tak boleh bergerak, masih sedar tetapi percakapannya raban. OP Hafiz serta merta dihantar ke Hospital Kota Tinggi. Memandangkan keadaan kritikal, OP Hafiz telah dipindahkan ke Hospital Sultan Ismail, Johor Bahru.

MIMPI NGERI RAWATAN

Pada 09 Jun 2011, OP Hafiz menjalani pembedahan di Hospital Sultan Ismail selama lebih kurang 7 jam yang mencemaskan. Keluarga Abu Tahir dan Tumirah berada dalam keadaan gundah gulana yang tidak terperi, tidak tahu apa yang akan berlaku. Mereka hanya pasrah kepada Allah SWT. Walaupun pembedahan tersebut berjaya tetapi, anterior plating telah dipasang dan penggraftan tulang telah dilakukan.


OP Hafiz telah didiagnos dan mengalami apa yang ditakrifkan sebagai, ‘keretakan ledak C6 dengan defisit neurologi, cedera kepala yang ringan beserta pendarahan intracranial dan ulser tekanan pada kawasan gluteus.'

Merujuk laporan surgeri, oleh Dr Wan Noor Azliana Mamat, Jabatan Ortopedik, “Diagnosis seperti tersebut di atas boleh menyebabkan pesakit lumpuh dan kesudahannya tidak pasti. Kita perlu menunggu selama sekurang-kurangnya 6 bulan untuk menentukan sama ada pesakit boleh peroleh fungsi normal atau hampir normal atau pesakit akan lumpuh sepanjang hayat.”

OP Hafiz telah berada di hospital selama 2 ½ bulan.

MASA DEPAN OP HAFIZ?

OP Hafiz kini terlantar di katil dan separa lumpuh di rumah. Keadaan medikalnya amat kritikal. Hidupnya tidak keruan. Pemikiran bahawa lumpuh dan terlantar sakit di katil sepanjang hayat merupakan mimpi ngeri dan amat menakutkan OP Hafiz dan keluarga tersayang.

Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) amat prihatin. UTP telah membiayai segala kos pembedahan, perawatan hospital dan pembelian kelengkapan dan aksesori perubatan untuk keselesaan OP Hafiz yang berjumlah sekitar RM25,000.00.


Beberapa sumbangan telah diterima daripada OP, iaitu sebanyak RM6,820.00, kebanyakannya daripada usaha murni OP yang lebih muda dengan melakukan beberapa kegiatan amal bertujuan meringankan beban yang ditanggung keluarga OP Hafiz.

Namun, OP Hafiz perlukan lebih dari ini.

Mark Knopfler's In The Sky song is a Masterpiece

It's been a while I never heard such a beautiful song with serene melody and lyrics that are so poetics in recent days. Maybe I was busy with works and other activities rather than spending some time listening to good music.

However recently, I get the opportunity listening to a song form Mark Knopfler's 2007 first solo album, Kill To Get Crimson. You can read all the review about the album on the internet and in my opinion, all musics produced by Mark Knopfler are esthetically great.

The song that I meant in the album is entitled 'In The Sky'. Listening to its melodious melody, unwinding and relaxing style of singing apparently made me want to observe more what the song is all about and go deep upon what is being expressed in the lyrics. It's amazing when I can easily relate the lyrics with imagination and depict different chronicles of ocean and fishermen family-related-story repeatedly.

Those days, especially during the college days, I think many of us did memorize few of our favourite songs. But at that time, most of us were merely driven by the seasonal music genre that usually made popular among generations at a time. If today, the adolescent are so fixated with Justin Beaver and so it types of music, those days, we were so proud of our guitar heroes. Until our lifestyles had been very much influenced by the Rock n' Roll bands and their musics.

For now, since time has changed, how about if we take a glimpse and listen to 'In The Sky';
